Re: spare parts

I have had Zero luck getting in touch with them through the web site. The # I called gave me a sales person who used to sell Starcraft and he was trying to get them to change the site. One would think that they would have someone on this site helping us out. After all we are not the types to spend big bucks on new boats so we aren't taking away business and we are good advertisement with our shiney restorations.

End of rant....

Edit - Email gets kicked back as undeliverable as well.
I think some folks here have inside contacts. Maybe they could bring this to their attention.

I agree, I have not found any way to contact Starcraft either.

Re: spare parts

I called the # on the web site this morning and got a nice woman in a Jackson, MI Starcraft dealership.

I know folks have gotten in touch with the company before thru email. They sent out free hats for Tinstock.

There is an email address and a Indiana address on the site under the "contact us" link.

The lady did say that they have sold a few of the new Starweld boats ad they are pretty well built.

There was a guy in upstate NY selling tons of SC parts. Try searching using craiglook or another clist aggregation tool and you might find some parts.

He had transom caps, dash trim pieces and other items for reasonable prices. I still need to get a dash trim piece in anodized aluminum myself.

Guys you're not really going to get much help from the folks at Starcraft. I guess they figure their job is to supply dealers with boats and parts for the more recent stuff. If you look at the grand scheme of things, we are a small number of people restoring old boats and there ain't much money for them in that.

The phone number on the website is designed to route you to a local dealer in your area. Again, most of the time that's a boat salesman and we all know how he makes a living.

I know it ain't fair, but that's the way it is.

I also contacted Starcraft several months ago. I wanted to obtain literature for my 18' SS. I talked with a lady and she took the information of what I was looking for, and said that it would be mailed right out. I waited a couple of weeks and it finally showed up in the mail box. The only problem was that it pertained to all of the new models. There was not one piece of literature pertaining to what I requested. So whoever contacts them regarding info on the old tinnies, I wish you good luck on getting it.

Whats with the ( Starweld ) brand?? New name ?or a change as they were making some welded boats last year. I saw one at the Seattle Boats Afloat show. This year the 2011 Boat show is next month but doubt there will be any Starcrafts there. Nearest dealer listed is in Hayden Idaho 441 miles away to be exact.

Re: spare parts

Keep in mind, the Starcraft brand name has been bought and sold several times over the years. I believe it even went through a bankruptcy in the late eighties or early nineties. Technically it is not even the same company that made our old boats.
Think of it like the Jeep brand name. Would be the same as going to Chrysler and asking for info. and parts for a Jeep made by Willys, Kaiser or AMC.

Re: spare parts

Yeah but they do still maintain almost every year's brochure. I understand a couple years have been "rifled" from thier files. And up until a year or so ago they had an old timer who had worked there since the 60's who would help out with some questions. Then a year or so ago, they moved the Starcraft folks into the Smokercraft location and he no longer works there.

We have had a little luck getting them to black and white photocopy a page or two out of the brochures and sent them to us individually, but that stopped when they did this new thing with the phone number.

As far as the bike is concerned-I'm lovin it. although the weather has been straight in the dumper since I got it. It has however, given me the opportunity to do some minor tweeking instead of riding :D

Re: spare parts

Starcraft sent me a DVD a couple of years ago explaining all of this. A guy by the last name of Schrock started the Star Boat company. He originally made watering troughs for farm animals. Then he changed the name to Starcraft. He sold the company and years later, the Schrock family bought it back. Today, Smokercraft, Starcraft, Sylvan, Starweld and a few others are all the same company. They are all manufactured in New Paris Indiana. This is their website.
