spark arrester & fuel filter

I just took my spark arrester and fuel filter out off my 1985 3.0 mercruiser Alpha one. I was planning on cleaning the spark arrester and thought I'd ask for an opinion on what to use. Also where could I get a new fuel filter?

Spray carb cleaner works well out of the boat on the flame arrestor and NAPA

You should be able to get All your Filters right here at iboats......
Or at your local NAPA.......

For the Flame Arrester,.....
I've had Good Luck with just using a spraycan of Carb Cleaner,......

i use brake clean to clean up my FA. or carb cleaner too. out of the boat to be sure....i like the brake clean cause it drys real fast....
get my filters at the mercruiser store. or if they aint hip. i go next door to the napa store...

just be carefull on that brake cleaner, its great for steel and alum. parts and it dries reals fast but its very destructive on o rings and some rubber stuff. stick with the carb cleaner.

spray carb or brake cleaner from inside flame arrester to outside

Brake clean is a great product,but use it correctly.

Back in the mid 70's,working in a Toyota shop ......

another mechanic and I were standing behind a running car when another mechanic thought he was spraying carb cleaner down the throat of a carb.It was brake clean.The fumes immediately clamped down our lungs,could not breath

I dragged him to the door,and thank God it was electric. I hit the button,and I think we dragged each other outside.

About 2 hours of fresh air and we were close to normal.

Just saying be careful.
