Hello. 1st time visiting site. I have a 89 force 50 hp. Was recently stranded in my boat for the first time ever. Started hard at the launch but then she fired up and was running good. Moved spot to spot all over the lake fishing and every time I started the boat she would start like normal until the last time. Got home found 2 ground wires burnt up and replaced them. Still no fire after that. Checked for spark no spark. I then checked the kill switch that checked out. Coils tested good and so did the Cdi box. I checked the spark again and had good spark and thought the problem was fixed. Then I had no spark after another test. Then I had spark to one plug but not the other. Now I have no spark. Any help is much appreciated

Welcome, getting stranded is not fun, and getting stranded in the ocean a long way form home is scary even with towing insurance.
1.Sounds like a failing ignition part, you could start with a Lisle 50850 spark checker set 7/16 inch apart, test all plug wires.
2.Test all coils, all CDI power packs, one half of power pack goes to one coil, the other half goes to another coil, trigger, stator?
3.The two ground wires burnt up is not good, a bad rectifier could cause this, better test it too.
4. We took the flywheel off so we could check every inch of wire, check if stator had any burn marks, trigger look ok, look at the back of the coils, cdi units, everything has to be grounded.
5. cdielectronics.com is the king for new ignition parts, and shows you how to test all ignition parts.
6.Test the kill switch, my gut says it's not the problem.
7. check your private messages, for more info

What ground wires were burnt?
Check the trigger leads.
Sometimes they can break under the shrink wrap.
Neutral interlock alignment.

Checked the neutral interlock alignment. It was a ground wire in the wire harness. It then melted the ground from the cylinoid to block. What is the proper procedure for testing the Cdi box

Thanks for the help. Found one small white an orange wire on the trigger broke. When pushed in the wire would make contact and work. Also my magnet under the flywheel was not attached not spinning. Fixed it all and now have great spark and she's runnin great!

Glad the trigger wire was the fix.
That's a cheap fix.
IF??? one wire was broken then replace ALL the connectors.
