25hp 1990 Yamaha 2-cylinder, 2-cycle

I've got a problem with loose spark plug caps - there's hardly any resistence when pulling them off the plugs and on occasion they'll bounce off in choppy water. It appears they're hard wired into the coil assemblies so I assume buying new ones may be unnecessarily expensive. Is there a reliable way to tighten these up/repair them short of new coils?

They're not like a lawn mower clip you can just give a squeeze with the pliers - appears to be a wound spring type that I can't get to take a bend with pliers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Dan

Re: Spark Plug Caps Loose

you can replace the caps and spring clips or just secure them with a wire tie around the plug body.
good luck and keep posting
