My 1995 Evinrude 50 HP 3 cylinder states to have the plugs gapped at .030. My question is should I gap them at .026 to .028 because they gain some gap after they are hot?? One of the guys I work with at the firehouse told me I should do this?? I have heard a couple people tell me this but I not a REAL mechanic so I was wondering if this has any truth to it. I replace my plugs pretty often and when I changed my last set they were at .035 and I gapped them at .030 when I put them in.. I searched a lot of threads on here but I didn't really get my question answered. Thanks for any input..Hank

Re: spark plug gap?

normal running gap a .030. if you do a lot of slow trolling, gapping at .035, cuts down on the plug fouling from extended low speed.

Re: spark plug gap?

thanks for the info tashasdaddy. I will keep that in mind when it comes to white bass season when I do a lot of trolling with the big motor..
