Spark plug question?

The spark plugs in my motor (1996 mercury force 75hp) have not been changed in about 1yr. or so.....my question is what is the advantage of changing the spark plugs right now??? Is there any advantage??

New plugs can not hurt anything. How do the old ones look ? Does the motor fire right up ok ? If not, new plugs will definitely help. I change mine at the beginning of each season and carry a set of the old ones in a tool box on board, just in case.
