Friend of mine who is a very good boat mechanic insisted to me that the spark plug wires had to be special ones for my 115 HP Evinrude. (1978) I had one solid core wire that had come apart and I kept shoving it into the boot and it did work OK but I'm sure a scope could have seen the difference. Anyway he told me that the wires sold for automobiles wouldn't work. Something about being resistor wires. I called an online marine sales outlet where the guy qouted me a wire made by Sierra just for my motor. He then explained to me I'd be better off going to a Pep Boys or Auto Zone to buy the same wire. (That was surprising that he'd do that too..) I told him what the mechanic had told me but he told me the only time I'd end up with a solid core wire would be if I happened to buy a coil and wire combo. He said it would have a cut to length wire that I'd have to put together at the length I needed.

So... What do you guru's think of this? What is the answer. I did put a wire from Auto Zone on there today and it ran fine until I pulled it off while it was running. Put it back on and ran fine.

Thanks in advance... Gary
