Spark plug wires and boot 1975 Johnson 4hp.

What is best way to reconnect spark plug wire and boot on my 4R75A Johnson? In process of selling this motor a prospective buyer had the 2 spark plug wires out of place as he actuated the cowling lock. Now one boot is off and other wire has a nick in it. Will electrical tape be sufficient to cover the nick? Thanks in advance. Sorry can't post picture, size limit exceeded...

Take off the spring connector, and slide the boot over the wire. Reset the connector, and slide the boot over the top, making sure the spring is in place to accept the plug. A little WD-40 helps with the process. Electrical tape will work on the nick.
