Spark plug wiring order

Replaced my distributor but I thin I may have mixed some wires up. Where can I find the correct wiring order. 5.7 V8 260hp Mercruiser

If they are the 5.7's in you profile, the firing order should be cast in the intake manifold.

Yep thats the one.. I keep forgetting how many other boats there are other than mine...LOL The firing order is there but which plug on the distibutor is #1. I know it sounds silly and I know I have done it before just coming up blank...? Thanks

5.7 V8 Mercruiser... I have a manual also but I cannot find it since I moved down south...

First, get the engine up on #1 TDC on the COMPRESSION STROKE. Then look at your rotor, it's will be pointing at or coming up on #1 plug wire. Rotation of the rotor is clockwise, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
Port bank is 1-3-5-7, Stbd is 2-4-6-8.

#1 post on the cap can be any of them, what ever you set it up with when the distributor gets dropped in. There may be a general area #1 would be from the factory, but if anyone ever pulled out the distributor since then, the only way to figure it is the way Don mentioned.

Compression stroke will be with your finger over the spark plug hole, while rotating the engine by hand you feel air trying to push your finger off the head.

Thanks for all the replies. I have the print out so my wife can help,me in the am get the timing set so I can get my wires in the right place. I did get it to turn over today for the first time in over two years which is wha I have been working on so big smile on my fast and hope tomorrow or sat will actually have the engine p and running. Thanks again
