Spark plugs for a 30

My little Chrysler powered Sunray needs some new plugs.
The ones in it looked very original to me. Champion J-4J were in it.
After a million cross references i came up with Champion QL86C.
The original looking ones have 3/8 reach and the new ones are 1/2 inch reach.
The head actually looks like its built for 1/2 inch plugs.
Am I loosing my marbles or what.

Picked up a couple of the L-4J Champion plugs today at work.
Didn't even know we still had any. We haven't serviced outboards for years.
I pretty much stick with the lawn and garden stuff.
But back in the day ...ha ha .
Oh well next weekend we will go to camp at the lake and have a bit of fun.
