Hi every one I need your help I am kind of tired, I check the spark on the spark plugs and I didn?t have a spark in the bottom cylinder (The one it was damp or Wet when i run the engine, so I take the flywheel off and check the condenser, points and coils everything ok ( points and condenser are new), I check the resistance on the primary circuit in the coil 1.2 Ohms , result ?ok? , I check the resistance on the secondary circuit coil to spark ?7.2 kOhm? , result ok , so I put back the flywheel , torque to 110 Lsb-Ft , start the motor without spark plus and test for spark, I saw a very good spark on both cylinders (I said Eureka), then I try again and I saw an intermittent spark in the top cylinder , The it happens the same in the bottom cylinder then I touched the spark plug cable and discharge me , (Do you thing I have a faulty cable?)
Can I make new cables out of an automobile cables the cables are 7.0 mm, Thanks for your advise

Is there some reason you are keeping the make, model and year of your engine secret?

Ups I am sorry , the engine is a 35 Hp Johnson Seahorse 1959 , I tried with the automobile cables , so didn?t work I think is because those automobile cables are not "wires? in the inside , i put back the old cables and work real good in both cylinders I have a very good blue spark i took the armature out of the motor and cleaned I think this help , I hope this fix will last. Today in the evening I am going to tried to run it in a tank , I will send my comments.

Thanks every one, can somebody explain me why with the automobile cables i don get any spark (Just to know)

Re: Spark Problem please help

Hi every one , I just had the same problem again , the engine it was working real good, it starts at the very first attempt. yesterday I try to start the engine and starts real hard with hesitation and i Heard a noise like when you are shutting the engine off , and then shut down, try to start , a real hard to start and die . When I check spark , I don?t have Sparks in both cylinders. What it could be?, I don?t have a switch to turn off the engine. How do I check it before to pull the flywheel, i don?t want to pull it again.
My main concern is why id don?t have spark in both cylinders
Thanks for the advice.

Re: Spark Problem please help

Please any help, I check the cables that they go under the flywheel,
cable number one.- from under the flywheel to the cut out switch it goes to the cut out switch, this cable is ground at the points, and is insulated at the cut out switch , when vacuum is applied to the hose the circuit closes and it gets grounded,
Cable number two .- A cable from the mercury switch that goes to the housing of the cut out switch , when i put a very slow speed it goes to ground and closes all the circuit at the cut out switch.
Cable number three.- it goes from under the flywheel i think from the points to the harness, which is disconnected.
Cable number 4.- from the cut out switch it goes to the harness.
In theory to kill the engine i have to short the cable from under the flywheel and the one from the cut out switch.

Any advice how to check the hole system i will appreciate.
