Hey guys, I stopped by my local Evinrude/Johnson outboard mechanics shop today trying to get some free advice. (He told me he was sold out.) Anyways he was testing for fire on a 2 clylinder and he had theses little sparktester lookin things that fit over the plugs and then clamped to the block on a bolt head or whatever. You could observe all the plugs while someone spun the motor. I asked where I could get some of them and he got all mysterious and inscrutable and such. What are those things called and where do you get em....Dave

Contact Precision Manufacturing and Sales. They handle a full line of marine and motorcycle special tools. There are several types of sparkcheckers made by Stevens, Merc-O-tronic, and CDI.

call 800-237-5947

Re: Spark tester thingamajig.

u can make ur own with a old spark plug lead just cut the lead and glue both ends inside a clear plastic tube with the ends aabout 5 mm apart , u should see the spark jump the gap and still be able to run the motor with this lead connected

Snap-on-Tools makes a dandy spark tester. I stopped one of the local drive-around vans at a
garage and bought one. $7 and change.
