This motor usually runs great it has 160 psi in both cylinders. But lately Cyl #1 has not been firing all the time. I have tried switching the coils with no luck. I know it must be the stator or CDI but not sure which is going bad cause whenever I test each the cylinder starts firing again. Last Sat went fishing and it would not run right for the first half hour then for no apparent reason it runs normal again. And fires both cylinders. Which is more likely to have a problem like this? Working sometimes but not always. CDI or Stator:confused:

Just to clarify when you say test, what tests are you doing? Have you checked the ignition switch? I'm going through the same thing and having similar trouble. If you post the results of your tests you can get better feedback on which direction to go next.

Disconnect the engine harness from the motor and then start the engine by jumping the solenoid. if you do this repeatedly with no problem then its in the boat not the engine
