speed/distance guage on 2005 HPDI Yamaha

I have twin 2005 HPDI Yamahas on the boat. Gauge that tells the boat speed and distance traveled is not registering this year. Worked fine last year. Reads zeros. I checked the opening on the motor to make sure the hole was open and it is. Still no reason. Where is the problem likely to be? Thanks.

could be a clogged pick-up at the gearcase leading edge or the tube from the engine to the guage is clogged.
