I am purchasing a 1995 Maxum SC200 with a Merc 4.3LX and have been told that the speedometer and depth guage are U/S. Is this a large fix or is it fairly simple. I know these aren't crucial things, however, I'm the type of guy that likes to have everything working. If any ideas or directions please pass them on.

Thanks

i own the same boat do you mean that they are in us units or that they do not work??

all the guages have maxium logos on them so a maxium dealer would be the only place if you want them to match the old ones

the depth is and after market unit and you would have to go to who they were useing on you boat i think mine is a telex???

the transducer for the depth is not easy to change so unless it realy bothers you it will be a pain to change

tommays

I believe that they both just don't work. I am just starting to trouble shoot to see if I can fix them. I was just looking for ideas on the most common faults to start with.

Thanks

Tommays: How do you like your boat, any complaints, any idea on the horsepower?

The speedometer works off water pressure, there is a small hole in the leading edge of the drive housing that can get clogged up.

As far as the depth sounder goes, the first thing to check is to see if you have good 12V to the unit and a good ground. IF it comes on and the lights work, it may have a bad transducer.
