Im pretty new to boating, and have really enjoyed my first boat, 1994 Glastron ski and fish. I sold it and Im looking at a 1997 Monterey Montura 19.5 foot with a 5.7 Ltr Mercruiser in it . The speedo does not work, and I was told by someone that its an easy 10 sec. fix. How do you fix it, and where is it located?? Thx, Tom.....BTW any input on this particular boat and motor?

If you really care about the speedo.... here's my advice. Don't spend a dime fixing it and get a GPS instead. Boat speedo's are notoriously inaccurate, and they clog all the time.
Sometimes its as easy as stick a pipe cleaner in the pickup in the drive then pulling the speedo out, pulling off the line, and blowing compressed air back through it all.
Other times you have to drop the lower unit to fix the stupid thing depending on where the speedo get's it's water from.
With gps prices nowadays, you can't go wrong.

Check the plastic 1/4 tubing on the drive in behind. Make sure it is plugged in / attached. Tilt the drive up for easy access.

Some of the speedos are very accurate. Mine is
