Due to an extreme oops I had to bury my speedo. Are they pretty much the same when purchasing one? I'm going to check on iboats today but thought you could share some of your wisdom on this purchase....thanks

Re: Speedo help

Was it a wheel style or was it a little piece of triangular plastic with a small hole.

Re: Speedo help

gonfishin,

They are all basically the same. If they are the pitot tube type, (leg sticking down below transom) the parts are pretty much interchangeable (pick up, tubing, etc).

If it's the paddle wheel type of pick up, that's a diferent story.

Here's a hint, buy one (pitot tube type) that has a top speed close to your boats top speed, it will be more accurate.

gonfishin,

Actuially, I believe that is a tube, not a wire. As long as it doesn't have any holes in it (holds air pressure) it should be ok. You may want to disconnect the speedometer end and blow through it to make sure it's not stopped up.
