There is usually reccommendations about fixing location in the units manual. I would place it anywhere on the transom where it will see a constant flow of water but not where it can be damaged by beaching or launching on and off your trailer if applicable. There is discussion in previous of this forum as to whether to mount it parallel to the water surface or parallel to the deadrise angle of the hull. I have mine parallel to the hull inside the line of a chine rail and it works fine. Obviously it has to extend slightly below the line of the hull so impact damage is a major concern.<br />Just my opinion.<br />Andy
