Speedo Question?

I purchased my used 18' VIP about six months back, and the first couple times I had it on the water the speedometer worked just fine. Then one day it worked spuratically and even got stuck at about 30mph when the boat was at rest in the water. After that it stopped working all together. It's a Faria brand pressure sensor speedo.<br />After searching the boards here, I tried cleaning out the hose with a can of compressed air. I can blow air through from the speedo all the way back to the inlet in the outdrive, but the thing still doesn't work. <br />I removed the guage, puckered up and blew as hard as I could in the back of the guage. It registered, but only went up to about 15mph. <br />Anyone know what's wrong?

make sure the pickup is clean also, were the tube connects to on the uotside of the boat. mine is mounted on the bottom of the transom near the hull some are on the outdrive, but make sure the water has clear path thru the pickup. goodluck
