Hi Guys,

I recently read in another post that the little hole on the front on the lower unit is a speedo sensor.

I have notice a little pipe coming up from the top of the lower unit that was not attached to anything. Im sure it is now safe to assume that this is the pipe coming from it.

Question is.. I have a little speedo pickup that trails of of my transom. Can i and should i throw this in the bin and use the pickup from the lower unit?

Stan

Re: Speedo Question

Hi Stan,

Do you have a speedo pickup on that engine? You must have a late model gearbox on it. I used to have a pickup on the transom, like you have. Throw it away when I put the new engine in. Regretted it ever since. The pickup on the engine reads slightly high. The transom pickup was spot on!

Chris..............

Re: Speedo Question

So stick to the transom pickup rather than the engine then?

Re: Speedo Question

That's what I'd do. You could just move the tube across and try it I guess.
