Speedo tube plugged off but....

I removed a few things to make room for my smart tabs. I was going to replace my speedometer tube but found it was capped off just inside the transom but the speedometer still works. This boat came with a functioning fish finder a hummingbird 1100 tournament. Could the speedometer be hooked into that?

is your speedometer electrical or pitot tube? Merc Alpha units have a pickup in them, could be coupled to that.

You either have a GPS Speedometer or another pitot tube.
What motor do you have?

It's a 4.3lx with alpha one. I thought I was in for a lot of fishing around but where else would it be hooked up to?

The alpha one has a pitot tube built in here.



Trace and inspect the hose from the speedometer back to the drive.

start by the back of the speedometer. if you have a hose, it will be a pitot tube setup and go back to the alpha outdrive, or a separate pickup. if you have only wires, it could be a GPS spedometer.

Merc Alpha units have a pickup in them.
