Maybe someone can give me some advice, I have a 07 1700prosport and last week while heading back in my speed odometer was not working. I checked for loose wires but they all look good. Thankyou in advance for your help.

Re: speedodometer not working

There should be a hose hooked up the the back of the speedometer, probably close to .25" in diameter. Pull it off and use an air compressor to blow what ever is blocking it back out the other end. Use a low setting on your regulator and go up little by little till it blows through. When you put the hose back on, use a small clamp or a zip tie to keep it on the back of the speedometer. A friend of mine has the exact same boat and he didn't use the tie. About a month later he had water spraying underneath his console because it had come off.

If the water pick-up (on the forward side of the engine)is in the lower unit, push a pin or small wire into it and water should come out. If it is pluged and water comes out, it should fix your problem.

Re: speedodometer not working

I bought a new 2008 1850 Fisherman in June of 2009. The first time out the speedo worked for about 15 minutes then nothing. Tried the things mentioned here to no avail. Took it back to the dealer who said it was probably at the connection under the motor cowl. Sure enough thats exactly where the connection came loose. The tech put in a new connector with a heat shrink joint and that took care of it.

Hope this helps for anyone else having this problem.
