1994 Bayliner 1800 capri with 120hp Force outboard. Bought the boat last fall, used it all summer and its in great shape and runs good! However the speedometer doesn't work snd hasn't since I bought it. There is no pickup or anything mounted to stern anywhere and looks like there never was. There is a small rubber tube hangig loose though near the outboard that looks like it may run up to the dashboard. Is that for the speedometer? If so where should it connect in back by the stern??? Am i on the right track here?

Yes you are on the right track. That tube connects to a pitot pickup. I attached a picture of an after market option. However, some OB engines come with that pitot tube built into the engine. So check to see if your OB engine has one. If so, connect the tube to it. If not you can buy one really cheaply at most any boating store...even here on iboats parts store...

A 1994 Force 120 does have the pitot built into in the leading edge of the lower unit.

disconned the tube from the back of the speedometer, blow it out with about 15-20 psi (more than that can split the line)

most likely the pitot pickup at the outboard is plugged.

ggundersen3, I f I'm not mistaken at the very front section of the foot. I attached your picture with an arrow. When the tube connects to the speedometer, I honestly don't remember anymore. But that was where my Mercury picked up the speed (water pressure).

So thanks! I located the small hole on the leading edge of the lower unit. Now I need to figure out how to find to rubber tube coming from it. I took the cowling cover off and can't see it anywhere. Anyone know where It will appear? Will It be in the engine compartment where I'm looking or somewhere else? Then how do I connect it to the hose I found disconnected coming out of the harness that runs up to the dashboard? Is there any kind of fitting to connect the 2 hoses?

Okay, I have to admit, I have no idea where their outlet for that pitot tube is located. I had a Mercury 115HP that had the pitot pickup located in the same area. But I honestly can't remember where the actual tube fit anymore. Somebody on these forums has to know though and hopefully will chime in with the location. :sorry:

Is there a hose coming off/through the transom? Is other end of the hose connected to the back of the speedometer?

I had two of the darn things and can't exactly remember, I am almost certain the hose works it's way up through the lower unit to under the hood and goes with the wiring harness wires to the dash area.
