Hi
I have a 1975 85 HP mercury motor. It came with the boat. For some reason, the speedometer doesn't work. When I replaced the water pump, I saw no hose in the leg for the speed. Does anyone know where it attaches to the engine? If I can find that, I can blow air in it and see if the speedometer itself works.

Thanks!

You won't see a hose like that in the leg as they did not have one on that engine. You may have had a transom mounted pitot tube like the one in this link:

It fits on the lower part of the transom and you can see the little *** where a small tube attaches and runs forward to the instrument.
