Hi guys,

so out of the blue my speedo is stuck at 40mph. It still works but now it's like 40 is the new 0 mph. My boat cruises at 35 and its funny because according to the new setting I am going at 75 mph LOL.

Any advice on how to fix this? Am I looking at replacing the speedo? RPMs are also kind of funky. Sometimes the needle will bounce up but with a little tap, it will come back to where it should.

Is this some sort of electrical issue I am having or just that the gauges are about to drop dead?

Thanks for any input,
JP

Speedometers are not electrical, except for the light inside. It works strictly on pressure.
When they get stuck like that, they usually need replaced, the insides are broken.

Any chance someone was blowing off the outdrive with compressed air.
The Speedometer will not like a blast of 120 psi!

The Pitot is on the front edge of the Outdrive.

Might need replacing then because i do my own maintenance and I've never blown any air through the Pitot. I'll try disconecting the gauge and reconnecting to see if it changes anything. If not I guess a new gauge is on the horizon.
