speedometer stuck at max

my speedometer is stuck at about 60mph. i removed the tube and made sure its clear. pitot (or whatever its called) is in the correct position. is the diaphram shot and therefore the whole thing junk? or is there more troubleshooting to do?

When the boat is on, do you have power going to the speedo? You can easily check it with a power light. If so, I would say your speedo is shot. If it's just the gauge, they aren't that hard to change.

Can I get some follow up info on this? So the speedometer reading has nothing to do with electronics? Anyone have a basic schematic? Mine does not work either, so if it's pressure related via a pitot tube all the way to the gauge, is there an air line that goes to the gauge? Non functionality would come from a bad pitot, crimped or blocked hose, or a bad gauge? All electrical going in is solely for lighting? Let me know. Thanks!

bds85466- it looks like you were able to answer your own questions based upon your other thread.

Don Dickinson's question is a common question- you can check for blockages. Pull the line off of the pitot and off of the speedo. But mostly likely, the speedo is still junk. Fixable? possibly- just probably not worth the effort.

You can buy new or used speedometers off of ebay for about $20 depending on the style that you are looking for....
