Re: speedometer

speedo's mostly use a pitot tube and that basically sucks up water into a tube and the gauge reads the pressure. I think most are compatible.. GPS speedometers are out in the markets now and they can be different, needing special senders ( GPS locators ) and such

Re: speedometer

If you have a smart phone you can just download a speedometer AP which uses GPS for tracking your speed. I just downloaded a free AP yesterday and while I have not had it on the boat yet I compared it to the speedometer in my truck on the drive home from work and it appears to be pretty accurate at least between 20-65 MPH. Did not check it at low speeds.

Re: speedometer

I do have a hand held garmin GPS but thought a speedometer would be a nice speed visual on the water.
as of now I have no gages on the dash.

Re: speedometer

They sell transom mounted pilot pickup tube bases. If the speedo takes a pickup tube, anyone will work. The only other wiring needed on the speedo is a + and -.

*The standard size speedo tubing is 1/8 in ID*
