speedy sleeves/ 470 coolant leak.

ok im doing the cam seals on my 470 and my end of the cam is scored, i need to know some info on speedy sleeves. anyone out there ever use them.

Use them for lots of things, google it.you will need to know the exact dia. of the cam end .

Did the same job on mine this spring. There's not a lot of room for error when you install them. (they aren't that wide). My front seal leaked after the repair and I had to push the front sleeve a little deeper in and it worked perfect.

I bought a digital caliper to measure the dia of cam and ordered the speedis on Amazon.com

Installed two sleeves on my cam. Like previously stated, you need to take care where you place them, as they aren't much wider than the seals. Two seals and two sleeves set my back almost $90. Much cheaper than a $400 cam from Merc.

ok i got the speedy sleeves on order will be in tomorrow. any suggestions on installing then? plus i was thinking of using red lock tite on all the bolts.

Red lock tite not a good idea (perfect seal, or NAPA aviation sealant used on bolt threads), just torque them to spec. Follow instructions in Merc Manual #8, starting page 3A-22. Should be instructions with sleeves.
