Re: spoons

I don't see spoons used a lot for bass, but for a general opinion I put them in a class with jigs and spinners as one of the top three types of lures for any fish.

I see soft plastics used for bass more than all others combined. Crankbaits are popular, too.

I have caught more smallies than bucketmouths on spoons, but I tend to use spoons more in smallie water. In bucketemouth water I am probably tossing crankbaits or jigging a jig'n'pig. I do toss a frog pattern Johnson Silver minnow with a porktail in the jungle.

Re: spoons

I use mostly spoons for white and striped bass, vertically jigging for fish I've found on the fishfinder...and do catch the occasional black bass on 'em. When I'm after LMB I usually have soft plastic on 3 rods, and a spinnerbait & crankbait on deck.

Re: spoons

I use Johnson Silver Minnows in grass and jiggin spoons in deep water when it gets cold. I have heard the jigging spoon can be deadly on black bass but I just don't use them enough to provide any useful info. All I know it to pop them up a few feet and let them flutter back down, repeat.

spots
