I just bought a 1997 Bayliner Jazz with a Sport Jet 175 in it. The problem is on 2 of the cylinders the compression is 5lbs and 0lbs. The previous owner said the engine buzzer nor the oil lights ever came on and he also checked and made sure they work. What made him check compression is the engine seemed to run rough but it has no noise that is out of the ordinary. It starts right up and sounds normal. Does it sound like a blown head gasket between those cylinders? How difficult are these engines to rebuild? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

the sports jet uses an outboard powerhead. you would probably get a better response on the out board forum. broken reeds, blown head gasket, or holed pistons. WAGs.
