My starter went out of my 120 hp sport jet, I am looking for a new one or a rebuild kit. Does anybody know where I can get one?:(

Thanks

Relatively cheap on ebay... Its a fairly standard starter that merc & chrysler used on lots of models.

Just about anybody should carry it. At least Mercury dealers will. Most will probably have it in stock I'd imagine. Since you're thinking of replacing it, why not take it apart and see if it's something simple? Got nothing to lose.

I did find a starter on e-bay for a decent price and got it here for the holiday.

Thanks for the input.

Last I checked, the merc dealer starters were about $350. The ebay starters are $60 to $100. (and are generally considered better quality!)

Sounds like it worked out for the OP, good to hear!

I'm also looking for a starter for a 120 hp sport jet... the only ones I can find on ebay are ARCO for $160-$180... there are a few under $100 but they are for outboard motors... is a Force outboard 12o hp the same as the XR Force jet drive?? Same starter?

Or if anyone has info on where to find one under $100 I would appreciate it!

Thanks!
