sportjet 120 water in lower cyl. head/exhaust gasket?

I was running my sportjet 120 off a dealer flush kit when the engine stalled as I was adjusting the idle. I tried to turn it over a minute later and it wouldn't turn over, so I knew I had hydroloc. I think it was the pressure from the garden hose when the engine was off. Is the only way to tell if it was head gasket or exhaust gasket is to do a compression test? Is something will require fixing, or will it be ok if I dry the cyl. and don't run with as much pressure on the hose.

When running a high horsepower engine, the water pressure needs to be on full blast. It should be impossible for mere water pressure to flow past any sealing surface if it's sealed properly.

What is the compression readings of all cylinders?

Enough water to create a hydraulic lock is enough water to gain access to the wrist pin bearings, main bearings, connecting rod beartings etc..... meaning you want to have that engine running ASAP (immediately) in order to blow out all of the water and have all of those areas fully lubricated properly. To neglect doing so results in rust of those areas quite quickly.

Your line of thought (head and/or exhaust gasket) is proper. I would be removing the head gasket for inspection of the gasket and sealing surfaces first.
