Sportjet 175 Ignition Problem

After a great day out on the water, my sportjet 175 started cutting out, and died as if it was running out of fuel (it wasn't). I limped it home, with about 1800 RPM the most I could get out of it. At steady throttle, it occasionally sputters up to about 2400 rpm for a few seconds, then back to 1800. Any more or less throttle kills the engine, and it's hard to restart.

After sitting for a day, it started and idled okay, but again cuts out once I get going, and I can't get it over about 1800-2200 rpm without killing it.

I haven't had any problems with this engine up to this point, gas tank, oil are all full, and I'm certain something went bad on the ignition side.

Any ideas? Is this something I could potentially fix myslef?

Any thoughts/assistance is appreciated!

Mercury Sportjet 175 - V6, 2-stroke motor used in many riverboats.
