My boat stopped today just as it was on a rise to plane. I re-trailered it and took it back to house. Here's what I've done so far. Check all four plugs, all are firing. Checked 20 amp fuse and landyard, all are good. Removed fuel screen on motor,,,there I found some debris. Cleaned it, and re-installed. Oil is at 3/4 to 7/8 full and working. Before I return to water for a try, any comments??? Or should I head for shop now? Thanks in advance, Jon

Re: Sportjet won't start??

You can try starting it in your driveway if you disconnect the water hose at the jet pump (in the back of the motor) and connect a fitting adapter with a water hose ot the hose going to the powerhead. A hardware store can set you up. Turn the water on to a medium flow, observe water coming out of the ride plate and exhaust, and turn the key and see if it starts. Keep it below 1800 RPM or so...

Do not try starting it without water flow. You can build up exhaust gases and blow the ride plate off.

good luck,
fp
