Re: sportjet90

hello
if it has a sport jet 90 it is a 90 hp force 3 cylindert. they were not bad engines. most failed due tocutomer neglect but that is how most motors fail. yes if the stator is blackyou will need an updated red one. parts are still avalible from merc as are power heads from various rebuilders. if this is a saltwater boat then good luck getting it apart.
good luck and keep posting
PS force was a good motor just had to do maint on it or it would die.

Re: sportjet90

For 280 bucks, sounds like a deal. In a 14 ft fiberglass jet boat, they will do 30-35 mph.

The sport jet 90 has problems with the ignition. You can buy a new stator and switchbox for about 3-400 bucks. You have two options with the electronics, Mercury replacement or aftermarket by "Rapair".

Also, all engine parts are pretty easily found on Mercury Parts Express website.

The jet pumps are pretty good. Just check the wear ring and replace.

Get a manual for it right here on iboats.

Ken
