Any of them will work in an emergency. Some have internal batteries that will provide 10 - 15 minutes of use (depends on the light output of the unit). Others have no internal battery and simply plug into a power outlet or clip onto the battery posts. Some have both. You make your choice and pay the man. For strictly emergency use, those spotlights with internal batteries make the most sense in my view. But then they do need to be kept charged to be of any value. It will do you no good if you are like my son-in-law who has a gazillion battery operated gadgets -- all of them with dead batteries.
