have been looking for a small aluminum boat
to get my 14yr old started in boating. a farmer
down the road has one, but he had the entire
inside sprayed with truck bedliner to stop up
some leaks. has anyone ever heard of this or
do you think it will last? seems like it would
sure make future hull repairs tougher. if the hull
flexes, won't it crack?
what do you guys think?
thanks,
M.Y.

If it was that Rhinoliner stuff, I can tell you for sure it won't crack. I have seen entire semi-trucks sprayed with that stuff on the inside to prevent corrosion when carrying fertilizers and acids and that stuff is tough.

I would say as long as there isn't any significant corrosion or damage to the hull, the Rhinoliner would provide a non-slip, sound deadening insulation to the hull. If there are chunks of hull gone or entire runs of rivets missing, I would avoid it. HTH!

I agree with Todd, Mellow.

There are products similar to Rhinoliner that are marketed specifically for boats. I have seen them in lots of tinnys and on 'toons to replace that !@#$% carpet junk.

If the hull is basically sound I think you will have an improved tinny.

Good luck. :)

Anyone ever tried it on fiberglass??? I've thought about having the inside and deck of my 21' open fisherman sprayed with the stuff...

It makes sense to me, Snapperbait. Easy to wash down, doesn't lock stinky fish and bait smell into the boat, quiet and sunproof.

You can get it in many colors and roll it on, if you choose.

Good luck. :)

thanks all for your responses!
the hull doesn't look too banged up and the
white color sure is purty... :)
I guess the question in my mind is flexibility.
how much would a 13' tinny hull flex?
if it does flex, won't this stuff crack???
I'm gonna go look at it one more time.
regards,
M.Y.
