I am ordering a aluminum boat and was going to wait tell the middle of march.
It takes 8 weeks to get it,witch would put me the middle of May. Hopefully
the snow will be gone. If I order it now will the crap on the road hurt the aluminum?
Nebraska is big on salt!

Thanks Don

Re: Spring Fever

The 5000 series marine aluminum alloys have no problem with salt.

You better tell us what you are buying.

Thanks for the quick reply.
First boat, looking at a Lund rebel 1475 with a 30 hp Merc.
We don't have very big lakes around here so it should be big enough.

Re: Spring Fever

get it sooner than later; there's always a lot to do rigging it the way you want it. You will also have 20 hours of break-in and then have to return it to the dealer, and you don't want that to hit on memorial day weekend or other busy times. I'd assume the boat shops will all be busy and backed up when your "season" comes in so you want to be ahead of the curve if you can.

Have fun! First boat?

sounds like a nice rig that should be pretty speedy. fun.

don't know where ya plan on going. but your right on the missouri river. it might not generally get wind wipped up waves. but the crusiers that go by can throw a pretty big wall of water at ya. myself, i frequent branched oak over by lincoln. while only 1800 sq acres. i've seen days that i'd not take a jetski out for the size of the surf. just giving ya food for thought prior to the sale.

congrats on getting your first boat. yer gonna love it.. whatever ya get...

i'd order now too. in past years, i've been out at end or march and in april. this year, who knows. pretty nasty, cold winter were having here. so time will tell. but i do like to get out early.. while i'm no fisherman. i'd think the fish would be real hungry after the ice thaws and goes away too, ;).
