I am taking my 16ft bass boat w/ johnson 2 stroke 40hp out for the first time this season on Saturday. I had the boat winterized in October and I always take it back for a spring start, however this year i am not. Besides putting the sparkplug back in, what else do i need to do? How difficult will it be to get it started

Re: spring start

All I do to my 2 stroke outboard for winter is pull the battery indoors and cover it up with a tarp, engine in down position. I went out just this past weekend and plugged the fuel line in and pumped the primer bulb, fuel from last fall still in the plastic 6 gal tank, it fired right up, I ran it on muffs for a little while then checked the lower unit fluid and it was all good.

That will work fine as long as you dont have water intrusion in the lower unit. That is why changing the lower unit fluid is part of winterization...

Other than that:
1. Plug the motor back
2. Fire it up at home with your ear muff or a tank
3. Take it to the lake
4. Have fun.
