1) While installing new plugs and wires on my boat today, I replaced the wires with the Factory Volvo wires, which had to be ordered. When removing the old wires, I compare the new with the old, and the old wires are 8mm wires, and the new factory wires are only 7mm.

This may be too much info, but i originally called iBoats, and they told me to call a local dealer to get the part number for the wires, because Sierra did not make an aftermarket set. I had just assumed no one made an aftermarket set of wires.

Am I going to notice any difference with these smaller diameter wires, and for future reference, does anyone know where I can try to find the larger diameter ones if there is a big difference?

2) While changing the impeller (only my 2nd time doing this), and removing the bracket that holds it in place i got this black gunk all over everything. it was like a liquid rubber they used to put on the end of the bracket that hold the pump in place.

Was this a piece of rubber that has melted from heat exposure (the boat is in covered storage), and if not, what is this stuff, and do I need to put more on the bracket?

As always, thanks for the input and advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Volvo made some out of the wrong material. Get a new one.
