springtime maintenance

I am starting my spring time maintenance and I have a couple questions. I changed the lower unit oil, looked dark but no water found metal shavings etc..but I could not get the seal out of the top plug, I believe that is the level plug, screw went in and out easy but the plug seemed to be stuck..it seemed to seal good but should I be worried about any problems? I put a little gear lube on both plugs when I put them back in to keep them from drying.<br /><br />Second question has to do with prop shaft maintenance. I am going to pull the prop off look for any fishing line etc..but what else do I need to do. The motor is a '93 70hp evinrude.<br /><br />Thanks all

THe fill/drain plug seals should be replaced. Sometimnes you have to coax the old seals out with a pick.<br /><br />Lubricate the propshaft with a waterproof grease. I use Lubriplate or OMC Triple Guard Grease.
