spun engine coupler question

The splines are still good. Order wrong part and would be nice to get her back together. Got motor oit. Rubber bushing came out. Should two rubber pieces be one? I hammered it back with with 4 pound sledge. Can I reuse or waste of time and wait with new part?

It's always best to wait for the correct part if the old part is questionable.... especially if you have to keep removing the engine to do so.

Are you working on the engine in your signature line?

Not exactly sure what you had to hit with a hammer but at that point...."order the right part"...comes to mind.

Why screw around when it's several hours of work to replace when it goes wrong. I've been running the $200 Sierra "triangle" coupler for a few years and it's been fine. In the boating world it's a cheap thing to fix.

the coupler should not be in separate sections and you cannot just hammer it back into place, couplers fail from mis-alignment, are the rear motor mounts bad?
