Spun Hub???

Ok I posted this in the Mercruiser section at first but think this part of the forums may be more appropriate. While in the water today my boat lost power to the prop. At very slow speeds it was fine but any sort of acceleration and it just reved up. Took it out and could not replicate the problem out of the water. With the engine off and in gear I could spin the prop. It took some work but was still turnable. Now my question is can the hub be replaced myself or do i need to send it off to be repaired. Below are the specs.

1990 23' 233 Wellcraft Eclipse
5.7L 350
Mercruiser outdrive
14 x 19 RH Michigan prop part number 033004-1

Duke, you do not have the tools or equipment needed to replace the hub, but any prop shop can do it for you.

Re: Spun Hub???

Another couple questions. I see hub kits online that seem like they just slide in and out. I am assuming that this prop does not have this feature? Also what is the going rate for replacing a hub? Any suggestions for who I can send it to? We don't exactly have the best selection of boat shops in my area. Also I will likely be buying a new prop today online. The one I have now is stainless but will probably go with alluminum due to cost. I'm thinking the repaired stainless one will still be my perm prop and the alluminum one a spare. Does that make since or should I keep the repaired one as a spare?
