If I have a spun prop hub and if I purchase a new prop does it come with the rubber bush or do I have to purchase that seperate... I know it might sound like a stupid question, but I am new to all this.

Cheers

If it is just a spun hub get the prop you have rebuilt it will cost far less and be as good as new.

and Yes the new prop should come complete.

You didn't mention what size motor you have. Most new props are built today for the hub systems like the Merc Flo-Torq hub and are sold without a kit. You simply use an existing one or purchase separately. Those are called square bore props. Some of the props for smaller motors still have the rubber cushion hub.

I agree- rebuilding a prop is quite inexpensive compared to a new one and apparently I have not lived long enough yet to rebuild the same prop twice ;-)

If you look in the yellow pages (if you are near a big lake or seashore) for "Prop Shop" or "Marine Repair" you will likely find a local rebuilder who can fix your prop.

I disagree with the cost thing.
First we don't know what size motor or prop we're talking about.
We don't know if it's SS or Al.
The last prop I sent out locally set me back $85 which I thought was high. Some people I have talked to locally said it should run around $50, but noone could tell me where (much less who was president when they ever had it done).
For my smaller OB's (50hp Merc and under), the most expensive prop I ever purchased was under $100. I usually find used ones (Al) that are always well under $50.
Even for my Cobra, I can find props under $100.

I would suggest calling and pricing first. It should not be that expensive, I think they saw the thickness of your wallet when you came through the door. Were there blade repairs involved? That can add to the tab.
