Went on the lake with new prop went from a 17 pitch to 19 pitch and boat went only to 3400rpm my motor range is 44-48. Now decided cause of lack of funds will put old prop on a 17 pitch solas, the problem I think it might have a hub problem is there a way to check so I don't have to drag this boat all the way to the lake???
Thanks

Re: Spun prop??

If your prop hub is "spun" your RPM's would go off the guage (rev.)

You do not have that problem. I'd be looking at the engine.

You need to read the stickies at the top of the page and give us the details on your boat, motor prop.Specific rpm and speed load etc.
Why did you go to the 19".
I don't recommend this but For safety be sure key is off and unhook the plug wires then you could check the hub by trying to turn the prop by hand.If its bad enough it may slip.If you mark across the hub with a piant marker
you may be able to spot movement.

Re: Spun prop??

Hello, I have been discussing this on another thread, and have found out just today that I indeed have a spun prop. After half throttle it just revs right out with no further gain in speed. Sounds like you have a different problem.
