after 15-20 minutes at high RPM (4000+-) i get a squeeking sound out the back of my engine i'm pretty sure it from the coupler area not a pulley or something like it.. i talked to some friends they say it could be a dry bearing on my bravo 3 please if anyone heard something like it please post if its a dry bearing their is the risk of water entering in to the boat?!?! no?!
maybe i can solve it with a little grease on the coupler no?
i have no problem uploading pics or videos so you will know what i'm talking about..
oh.. it's a brovo 3 sterndrive with mercruiser 496 H.O

Re: squeeking bearing?!

The only bearing back there is the gimble bearing in the transom assembly. When they go, it's usually a growling noise, but this is easy to confirm.
Go to the transom assembly (from outside the boat) on the starboard side of the transom assembly right up next to the boat roughly in the middle is a Zerk fitting (hit that fitting with about 4 or 5 pumps of your grease gun and fire up the boat. If the noise is gone. You found the problem and need to change the gimble bearing. (because it was damaged even before you started hearing the squeeking.)
If that isn't it, and the noise is coming from the coupler, it's because you engine is way out of alignment.
I also reccomend taking off the drive to inspect the u-joint bellows you may have water getting into that , and yes, that can get into the boat.

If the sound came from the back of the engine, the only thing back there that could squeek or growl, or make noise is the gimbal bearing and maybe the coupler splines.
When was the last time the outdrive was pulled and the bellows checked for water? The alignment and gimbal bearing checked and the splines on the coupler shaft cleaned and greased. This should happen at least yearly.
