Hi, I reciently picked up a (little) used 96' Dt-4 4 hp, 2 stroke. GREAT little motor and really all I need ( for a 17' canoe) but if memory serves. I think it's nearly identical to the Dt-5 (5hp). I have to wonder how hard it would be /what's involvend in squeezing out theat extra 1 hp. Could it be done with just a carb jet change? Might be a good winter project.
Any insight appreciated.

there are a couple of ways ... but I would rather suggest leaving it as is ..... to go through all the effort of gaining just 1 hp is just not worth it .....
