Stacer 525 vs Quintrex 530

Hi, I'm new to this forum and am about to get my first boat for use in WA. I've been looking at the Stacer 525 vs the Quintrex 530. I was almost sold on the Stacer, but noticed it's bottom was 3mm and sides 2mm vs the Quintrex's 4mm and 2mm. I also note that the quintrex hull weights 110kg more.<br /><br />I'm also tossing up going for the Stacer 565, if the hull thickness matters, as it has 4mm and 3mm and is priced around the same as the Q530. Trouble is, I keep creeping up in terms of size, and this things only meant to be towed by a commodore.<br /><br />Can anyone offer me some thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

Good luck dugite57! I know there are some boaters on here from Australia but there aren't a ton of them. All I have seen is that Quintrex has been working on getting a better presence in the U.S.

Hi dugite57, welcome to iboats!<br /><br />Nothing wrong with either boat but the quintrex is definetely a boat aimed at the serious amateur fisherman, better features and, as noted, thicker aluminium. The quinnys millenium hull is sweet. Stacer is more an entry level boat. <br /><br />I seen some pretty good package deals on both recently. I think they are having a bit of a marketshare war - that can only be a good thing.<br /><br />What model commodore (engine size etc)? Shouldn't be a problem with a decent tow package.<br /><br />edit: You might want to do some homework on this but I believe the quinny is the first boat builder in Australia to have 'stay upright' floatation as standard.<br /><br />Aldo

I ended up posting on an Oz forum. The Quintrex has the better finish, but is $5k more, and some folks say the Stacer is more stable, although to my untrained eye the EVO hull and the Milenium hull look the same. I also understand that they are both owned by the same company and made in same factory, but who knows (sales dudes talk, so I'm taking it with a pinch of salt).<br /><br />Car's a new Calais with the 190kw v6 (company car).<br /><br />Still not sure on the 525 vs 565, leaning towards 525 due the $6+k difference.<br /><br />Am also trying to work out what motor to get. The stacers seem to come packaged with 90hp 2st Mercury's, but I want a 4st and man not sure if a) I should go for a 90 or the max 115 (on 525) and if I should try a different brand, like a Suzzi...
