Is this available for the 350 Merc setup? I've seen one on the web that's made in Australia but it's one piece and looks reeeeeally expensive. I realize they'll be pricey but we do have our limits. :)

You are on the wrong forum. Yes they are available and yes they are spendy. I had a friend put them on his boat a couple years ago. Seems like he got them from an outfit in Everett, WA.

This is the I/O forum, what one should he be on?.....
The ones from OZ are one piece mans/risers....
I know that they do make SS risers for the 350 in the states, but not sure about the manifolds......

Re: Stainless Manifold/Riser

I know they make SS risers, because my "1997 5.7LX EFI Gen+" (yes, that whole stupid thing is the actual name of the engine) has them. They are part number 816900A 5 and 816900A 9 and they list for $609.98/ea!
I have never seen stainless steel manifolds. Just SS water jacketed header from like Bassett. But I haven't seen everything, though.

Re: Stainless Manifold/Riser

Sorry about the mix up. Too big a hurry.

Thanks for all the great info. We've made quite a few SS parts but I won't even start to think that we're in the category with Wire2. That's is some really nice work there guy. Wow!

I'll check on the Seattle and PPT in OK.

What do you guys that frequent the salt do for the build up problem in the risers. We seem to get a couple years and have to take them off and clean them out which is a pain but necessary. Any tricks we might not know about?

Thanks again, Darol

Re: Stainless Manifold/Riser

I have read that the one piece jobs from australia had a big problem with cracking... but that could be a rumor...

If you just want risers, can buy those to fit your stock merc manifoolds, or you can buy a pair of near new 496 risers (they suck on that application and a huge number of them get replaced immediately - many at the factory - with headers... they won't bolt on, but there is just enough room to cur the flanges down to cover stock merc or glm manifolds and drill them to fit... they're tubular stainless and can be had for about a hundred bucks and a little work...

the other options (based on a lot of shopping lately) that appear to wear well in salt... stainless marine / gil, emi, and imco's...

Interesting. Who would a guy contact for some additional info on these 496 risers?

Re: Stainless Manifold/Riser

do search on ebay... I noticed two sets on there just a while ago.

Note that the flanges DON'T bolt right up. You'll have to cut the ends down, drill holes and put them on with header bolts... no gaurantees, but take a look and see... word is that they REALLY suck on the 496, and that many of em come off right away (like at the factory) in favor of cmi headers...

Re: Stainless Manifold/Riser

I thank you for the ebay tip W2. I checked the measurements he listed for good luck and luck would have it, the manifolds we have are Barr which are a little different size. Always finding surprises. :)

I'll be watching ebay now for ones that will fit the Barr setup. Thanks again for the heads up.
