Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Answer these few questions, 'n We'll get ya an answer,....

thank you. Im just looking for more top end,it gets out of the hole like a shot and runs great but seems like I should get more than 29 mph. Ive got a merc,10 3/8x13 aluminum prop on it now. the rpms seem to be right in the 5200 range and runs 29.6 on the gps with just me or 2 dogs and my daughter on it. the motor is a 1985 merc 50 horse, not sure what the hours are but ive had it for about four years and has always run great. thanks for any help.

Well let's see.

If you put your numbers into the Mercury prop selector using your performance numbers, it recommends a 12 or 13 pitch and says you should be able to do about 33 mph at 5250 rpm.

Your numbers represent about a 14% slip, which means your present prop isn't performing that well.

A SS Mercury Vengeance ( or other SS prop ) should reduce the slip due to less blade flex and produce something closer to the projected 33 mph.

The only two Mercury SS props shown for your motor are the Vengeance 3 blade and the Trophy Sport 4 blade.

A Solas SS prop should work as well for less money.

Is the anti vent plate(just above the prop) about even with the bottom of the boat?Do you trim up?
Arte yopu sure the throttle op[ens all the way?Is the prop in good shape?Do ypou adjust then trim for best perform, dance.
What model lund? Bare bones or fully fitted out? With the model we may be able to pin down the weight.
